Inspiration

Via Carota is named for the Tuscan road, Via del Carota in Bagno a Ripoli, where Rita once lived in a 17th-century stone villa. Much of the look and feel of Via Carota was inspired by this house in the hills south of Florence, including the long kitchen table by the hearth, the antique wooden chapel chairs, and the many meals Rita and Jody enjoyed there.

The baskets of fresh ingredients and dried garlic and herbs in the Via Carota dining room evoke the feeling of Italian country life, where the work of the garden comes inside and the act of cooking imbues many collective spaces. Via Carota carries this feeling of home—from the design and decor, to our generous food and gracious service.
