What is Via Carota?

Via Carota is the acclaimed West Village osteria from Chefs Rita Sodi and Jody Williams, established on Grove Street in the fall of 2014. Via Carota is named for the bucolic country road outside of Florence — Via del Carota — where Rita once lived and Jody often visited. Via Carota centers seasonal ingredients, generous Italian cooking, and warm hospitality, and earned Chefs Rita and Jody the James Beard Award for Best Chefs, New York City.

Via Carota is open every day from early lunchtime into the evening. As a neighborhood osteria, we always welcome walk-in guests and strive for a warm yet refined service style. The food we serve is seasonal, nourishing, and unpretentious.

Together with the chefs’ other restaurants, Via Carota has helped transform the West Village into a widely-beloved culinary destination.
